ADHD + Plants
For people with ADHD, watering schedules are super handy. I always forget to water my plants, and i realise that the week after my plants started looking droopy. So, i made Wednesday my watering day! It worked pretty nice, but then i got misophonia (to read more about that, go to my About Me page), and since i couldn't go to school anymore and didn't really have any daily priorities i started forgetting what day it was, so a daily calender check is recommended too. I know that it might not be as fun, but cleaning up is really important too. Maybe put on some nice music and really try to get motivated to clean your plant room.
🪴You can also try making plant tasks more fun, by for example making a list of all the plant tasks you need to do, starting with the easiest ones and ending with the hardest, and treating yourself with a nice snack after.
Pets + houseplants
A lot of people have pets (mostly dogs & cats) for emotional support, but also love plants. If you have a pet that you know is curious and likes to bite things, you might want to reconsider if owning houseplants is worth it. Not only are rescue surgeries expensive, you might lose your pet to them consuming the wrong plant.
Many stores sell Chlorophytum comosom plants (Spider plants) as cat grass and say it's perfectly safe, but did you know your pets can get high from the sap of that plant? Thats true! Your pet can get hallucinations from the sap, just like if they ate magic mushrooms. If you are unsure if the plant you want to buy is toxic for your pet, it only takes a few minutes to do some research on Google.
There is 1 plant you should NEVER buy even though your pet has never bit into a plant before; the Dieffenbachia. the Dieffenbachia (a.k.a the Dumb Cane plant) has one of the most toxic sap of all plants. Consuming its sap can easily unalive a human.
