Bambusa Care Guide
Bambusa, also known as the bamboo plant. Most species originate They are really invasive, and have various species that can withstand freezing temperatures.
But today, let´s talk about the indoor bamboo plants!
------------------------------------
WATERING :
Indoor bamboo plants like high humidity, preferably above 60%. They should be watered in small amounts, atleast enough that roots are kept moist, but not so much that the soil stays wet for days. The soil should be lightly moist around the roots at all times. Not wet.
------------------------------------
LIGHT REQUIREMENTS :
Bamboo plants prefer a lot of light. it sure can handle direct light. But try to watch out for sunburn.
------------------------------------
PROPAGATING :
Bamboo plants grow relatively quickly, but are known for being so invasive in gardens , strong and need a lot of light.
They propagate themselves through rhizomes, which are basically underground stems that get offshoots, which grows into a mature bamboo plant. They do this in pots, and in the wild. If you want to propagate the bamboo, just take the plant out of its soil, and cut off a piece of the rhizome. These cuttings usually already have roots, so you can pot them up and just wait for them to shoot
------------------------------------
MEDIUMS :
In the wild, these grow in mud. That´s possible because of the sun, that helps dry out the soil, and the wind also plays a part in that. For houseplants, that mud will take weeks to dry out, which will create root rot. I reccommend using a chunky soil mix. Just use houseplant soil from the store, perlite and LECA.
