Callisia Care Guide

Callisia is a low-maintenance genus with a variety of species. These plants are known for their beautiful, trailing stems and delicate leaves.

WATERING:

In my experience, Callisia aren't picky about how they're watered at all. I sometimes forget to water mine for a week or 2, and nothing happened. Now this plant does prefer to be watered once a week, and when you do you should fully saturate the soil and let the excess water drain.

PROPAGATION:

Callisia plants are pretty easy to propagate. You can take stem cuttings, remove the lower leaves, and stick them in some moist soil or just in water. They'll root pretty quickly! And before you know it, you'll have a brand new plant.

LIGHT REQUIREMENTS:

Like most plants, Callisia loves a bit of light. Give them some bright, indirect light, and they'll thrive. Direct sunlight can be a bit too much, so it's best to filter it a bit. More light means more growth, but they'll tolerate some shade too.

BLOOM:

Callisia plants produce small, delicate flowers that are usually white or pink. They're not the main attraction, but they're a nice bonus. These flowers bloom in the summer months when the plant is mature, but it's not super common for them to bloom indoors.

MEDIUMS:

These plants do wall in most mediums, they can grow in soil, LECA, water and hydroponics. I always like to experiment with new mediums and i really recommend that! It will expand your knowledge and is super fun to do and to see the results.
