Polyscias Care Guide
Polyscias plants, also known as Aralia or Ming Aralia, are popular houseplants known for their elegant, lacy foliage. Let's dive into the world of Polyscias and explore how to care for these beautiful plants.
------------------------------------
FLOWERS:
Polyscias plants can produce small, white or greenish flowers, but they're not the main attraction. These plants are primarily grown for their stunning leaves, which come in a variety of shapes and sizes. If your Polyscias plant does produce flowers, they're a lovely bonus.
------------------------------------
WATERING:
These plants prefer moist soil but can't tolerate standing water. Water your Polyscias plant when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch. Make sure the pot has good drainage holes to prevent waterlogged soil.
------------------------------------
LIGHT REQUIREMENTS:
Polyscias plants prefer bright, indirect light but can tolerate partial shade. Direct sunlight can scorch the leaves, so a spot with filtered sunlight is ideal. East- or west-facing windows are perfect for Polyscias plants. If you're growing your Polyscias plant in a low-light spot, it may not grow as quickly.
------------------------------------
PROPAGATION:
Polyscias plants can be propagated through stem cuttings or air-layering. Take 3-4 inch stem cuttings with at least two nodes, remove lower leaves, and plant them in a pot of moist soil. Keep the soil consistently moist and warm until roots develop. Air-layering involves making a small incision in the stem and wrapping it in moist sphagnum moss, which will trigger roots to grow from the cut.

MEDIUMS:
Polyscias plants prefer well-draining potting soil that's designed for indoor plants. Look for a potting mix that's specifically labeled as "indoor plant potting mix" or "houseplant potting mix." These mixes are designed to retain moisture but drain excess water, preventing root rot.
