Saintpaulia Care Guide

A lot of people see Saintpaulia (also known as an African Violet) as grandma plants, but these are actually so cool, especially the variegated ones!

------------------------------------

THE FLOWERS:

Saintpaulia flowers come in every shade you can imagine, so many colors and they look so darn cute! The flowers are the main attraction to this plant, but their little velvety leaves are just as beautiful to me!

WATERING & MEDIUMS:

For watering, a lot of people have their Saintpaulia in self-watering systems which the plants love, but if you have it in a normal pot with a soilless mix with perlite, coco peat/peat moss and leca as Saintpaulia like it, water once a week, but not from the top! The leaves can easily rot if water accidentally stays on there for too long and can even grow mold, so instead put the pot with drainage holes in a tray of water and let it soak it up for like half an hour, let the excess water drip out and that's it!

LIGHT REQUIREMENTS:

Saintpaulia do best in bright-indirect light because direct light/full sun can scorch the leaves pretty easily, and they do great under grow lights too!

PROPAGATION:

Just like succulents, you can snip off a healthy leaf, put it in a moist potting mix, the leaf will then start to root and grow a new plant!
