Leucocasia care guide
Leucocasia are native to South-East Asia and are such beauties!
Fun facts:
-Leucocasia used to be Colocasia, but later turns out it is its own genus, and now we have Leucocasia.
-Like Alocasia & Colocasia, Leucocasia grow from corms/bulbs and through seeds, which they produce themselves via shotgun inflorescensces. Want to know more about shotgun inflorescenceses? Click HERE or go down 2 sections and read the ¨Propagation¨ part.
------------------------------------
WATERING:
Leucocasia does best with moist soil, not wet but moist. If you can, water it when the top inch (1 inch = 2.54cm) is dry, that means that the rest of the soil is still somewhat moist and ready for watering
Leucocasia and Colocasia are also often used as aquatic plants for ponds, just make sure that the leaves are above water and it is not freezing if you want to grow them in water.
------------------------------------
LIGHT REQUIREMENTS:
Give it bright-indirect light, but like most houseplants, you can train your Leucocasia to adapt to direct light by slooooowly exposing it to more and a longer amount of direct light.
------------------------------------
PROPAGATION:
Propagation can be done by plucking off off-shoots (the shoots have corms, so you have to dig a little bit) or by seed;
When your Leucocasia reaches full maturity, it reproduces itself by producing a series of inflorescences which need to be pollinated, and then there will be tens of thousands of tiny Leucocasia seeds inside each of the inflorescences.

MEDIUMS:
Use a soil mix that can hold some moisture but also has some drainage. A mix like that has universal potting soil, coco peat perlite and leca. As you´ve read above, it can also be grown in water both inside and outside, just make sure to take it inside if the temperatures drop below 10°C (50°F).
